Strawberries & cream for breakfast?

Did you know a great breakfast if you’re trying to lose weight is strawberries and cream?

And double cream at that…

I know it sounds crazy because we’re so used to hearing that fat is bad for us, it will raise your cholesterol and we should avoid it at all costs. And will having a good ratio of good:bad cholesterol is important to health I’m going to challenge the exact food that bring about the perfect ratio.

 

Because when I do this your whole outlook on weight loss will change.

I’m a GP, I hold postgraduate qualifications in weight loss medicine, and I have been running weight loss clinics for the NHS for years. I’m writing these articles to empower you to take control of your weight and your health.

 

Because what we’re doing isn’t working. We have the highest rates of Diabetes we’ve ever known. We are the most overweight we’ve ever been, many people are in a cycle of repeated diets and the inability to lose weight is not from a lack of trying.

 

Is it time to go back to the drawing board and try something else?

 

I’m going to share with you three secrets about fat and how you can eat more of it and lose weight. This is huge. And of course there shouldn’t be any secrets at all..

And I know you’re probably thinking I’m controversial or maybe that I’ve lost the plot!

 

But bear with me, if you can grasp this then it might just change your trajectory.

I’m going to show you a great way you can use fat to get amazing results with your health.

 

So the first secret is that fat is the only macronutrient that doesn’t raise your blood sugar. And because it doesn’t contain glucose it doesn’t cause insulin to be released. And excess insulin in the blood causes weight gain and stops you from losing weight.

This is hugely important! Because that gives the pancreas some well deserved rest.

 

The second secret is that fat is one of the best foods to keep you full. This is because fat triggers the hormones that tell your brain you’ve had enough. Adding fat to your foods (assuming the carbs are low) will decrease the urge to snack, a massive benefit for those trying to lose weight

The third secret is the one that shocked me the most. I’ve taken great care over the years to monitor people’s cholesterol profiles before and after starting in my clinic and the results were shocking. Eating more fat increased the good cholesterol, and decreased the bad cholesterol: the rtio’s improved!! And not only that, it happened very quickly. And just to drive that home, it is not just about decreasing the bad cholesterol, it is also about increasing the good.

Which leads us to a controversial point that’s hotly debated by scientists:

 

Have we been blaming fat for what sugar’s been doing all along?

 

This is huge!! Now I know what you’re thinking… I’m still not sure.

 

Because this changes everything

 

Like when humans realised the world was round rather than flat…

 

I get it though, I’ve been there! It takes a leap of faith. It feels wrong and it feels weird. And that’s ok. This is normal. I felt this exact way too. But now there’s no going back for me.
